From the Great Lakes, For the Great Lakes
This banner hangs in our Rhinelander store. We put it together several months ago for an event we had there to highlight jobs in Wisconsin. We at CrossTrac Equipment are exceedingly proud of the fact that we represent manufacturers "born and raised" here in the Great Lakes.
TimberPro is the 3rd iteration of a legacy launched by Pat Crawford decades ago and still carried on by his family today in Shawano, Wisconsin. Barko was founded in 1963 in Duluth, Minnesota, and later moved across the harbor to Superior, Wisconsin. JP Skidmore has called Menominee, Michigan, home since it was founded by Jesse Peterson, who located the company in the same town where his father Robin had built Fabtek many years before.
Just like Silicon Valley for IT and Houston for energy, certain locations just become centers of excellence for different industries. Forestry and heavy equipment converge here in the upper Midwest, and we enjoy the benefits of that. We also sell and service machines from other places, including Canada, Sweden, and Finland, but these local roots are special to us.
The relationships we have with these manufacturers go beyond "feel good" stories, though. This closeness means we get an unusual amount of interaction with issues like product development, technical support, and even supply chain integration. We get to know the suppliers these manufacturers rely on to produce these machines and keep them running. When you see a poster like this, it reminds you just how many families across the Great Lakes depend on us and our customers.
At CrossTrac, we have a great deal of respect for our competition. Many of the brands we run up against are huge global companies with vast resources and rich histories. That we can hold our own among them is a testament to the passion, craftsmanship, innovation, and value of these manufacturers and their suppliers.
